Digital Competence Framework for Educators (DigCompEdu)

DigCompEdu Framework

The project employs the EU’s DigCompEdu Framework to design professional development training for the faculty members. The DigCompEdu framework asserts that faculty members be digitally-competent in four core areas: (a) Digital Resources (Area 2), (b) Teaching and Learning (Area 3), (c) Assessment (Area 4), and (d) Empowering Learners (Area 5)

Area 2, Digital Resources, is one of the key competences any educator needs to develop a) to identify, assess and select digital resources for teaching and learning; b) to modify and build on existing openly-licensed resources and other resources where this is permitted; c) to organise digital content and make it available to learners, parents and other educators.

Competence in Area 3 refers to designing, planning and implementing the use of digital technologies in the different stages of the learning process.

Competence in Area 4 (assessment) entails using digital technologies for formative and summative assessment.

Area 5 acknowledges the potential of digital technologies for learner-centred teaching and learning strategies.
